Love is in the air - Take a deep breath

Did a fun location search and shoot today with Scott Jarvie. Found some great ones and did an engagement shoot while we were at it.

YOU ASKED FOR IT! First official LL Q&A

1. Leavitt Family said...
I had a couple of questions for you. The first is how much of a difference do you see with your new 50mm f/1.4 and the 50 mm f/1.8? Next I wanted to know what equipment you use for your home studio and how much space your recommend?

LookieLooSays...
If you want to see the difference between the 50mm 1.8 and the 50mm 1.4, here it is in photo form. I sat my son down in my studio and put my camera on my tripod so there would be no chance of camera shake and took pictures with both. Here they are, unedited, straight out of the camera.

I took the original and cropped it in so you could see the detail even better.

50mm1.4 is on the left, 50mm 1.8 on the right

In case the quality isn't as good as it is in my Lightroom, the 50 1.4 is clearer. The 1.8 seems to have a slight haze over it.

As far as equipment, if you didn't see my post about that click here.

I'm trying to update my photography blog but was wondering...how do you get your nice layout on your blog with such big pictures? Is it Minima Stretch? Because I still couldn't get my pictures big. :(

LookieLooSays...
Yes, the template I use for my blog is "Minima Stretch". As for getting your pictures big, there are several ways to do it but I prefer SmugMug. I import my pics onto their site and then drag them onto my posts here on blogger in the size I want. Super easy to do. It costs money to have an account with them but if you put in my email, "suzryma@yahoo.com" they will give you a $5 discount and I also get money off of my next year's fee. It's kind of one of those win win things! If you need help send me an email and I can get more detailed.

Here's one last thought for the questions about whether or not the 85mm 1.4 is worth it.
It's my new favorite lens. I took these pics the same day as the 50mm above and think it blows them away. These were all shot at f/1.4.

The Depth of Field on this thing ROCKS! It is so soft looking.

 Studio-8
Now all you Nikonians go out and buy an 85mm 1.4 and it will be the best thing you ever did for your photography. If you are a Cannonite, there is an 85mm 1.2 that does a pretty amazing job too.
